Why an Urban Guides Gathering?

Join fellow nature and forest therapy guides for a day of connection, learning and exploration focused on the opportunities and challenges of guiding in urban environments. Whether urban guiding is new to you or already part of your practice, you’re warmly invited to come learn, share and exchange ideas.

More and more of the people we hope to reach live in urban environments. Together, we’ll explore what it means to guide where people are, and the possibilities for meaningful nature connection in parks, parkettes, gardens, neighbourhoods, streets and other shared urban spaces.

What We’ll Explore

Throughout the morning, we’ll move between our indoor gathering space and High Park, sharing practical strategies, resources and experiences while problem-solving some of the realities of urban guiding, including permits, extreme weather, dogs, accessibility, shared spaces and access to washrooms.

In the afternoon, we’ll experience a one-hour guided forest bathing session in High Park, followed by time to reflect and connect over tea.

Our hope is that you’ll leave with practical ideas for your own guiding, new connections with other guides, and a sense of the exciting role nature and forest therapy can play in the urban landscape.

Our day will include time outdoors in High Park as well as the opportunity to gather comfortably indoors in a nearby condo party room. Everything will take place within a few minutes of High Park Subway Station.

A combination of limited street and condo parking will be available. Public transit and carpooling are encouraged where possible.

Urban Guiding Resource Table

Everyone is invited to bring one physical resource you use or value for urban forest bathing to add to our indoor sharing table. It might be a favourite storybook, poem, map, pair of binoculars, sit-upon, or another simple tool or resource you’d like others to discover.
